This exhibition, presented by the new Elephant Paname art center, is a must see for all ballet lovers, and pays a beautiful homage to the great Paris Opéra dancer, Noëlla Pontois. This ballerina, who later became a respected teacher, has been one of the most admired dancers of her time, all over the world. She was really a ballet star, a “divine étoile”, and she still has many fans, even she has been quite discreet during the last few years.

The exhibition presents some of Noëlla Pontois’s costumes, beautifully displayed under the spectacular glass rotonda of Elephant Paname. There are also many photographs and press documents, mostly from the artist’s personal collection, as well as a moving reconstruction of her dressing room at the Opéra. It is also possible to watch many films and TV clips, as ballet and dancers were very often invited on TV at the time, and were much more popular than they are now.  One can spend more than one hour and a half watching all these moving reminiscences of Pontois’s great talent and grace.

A beautiful catalog of the exhibition’s photographs is available in the shop, as well as a nice selection of posters. And Elephant Paname presents many events related to the exhibition, as a tombola and chances to meet Noëlla Pontois…

To see until the 21st of march 2013
